Whispers Of Pleasure

Abstract

This piece is an illustration-based visual storybook representing a story of an unnamed character that represents women or people that own vulvas or vaginas as the lead character. It represents the nuances of the experience of pleasure for said individuals, within a patriarchal society or space. It stems from a personal experience as well as resonated with many people surveyed and interviewed, on a conceptual level, about a space of guilt and pressure surrounding women’s pleasure, their needs and equal respect to their acts of self care and self acceptance. It represents vulnerability, resistance, awareness and action as a conversation-starter, and further aims to create a supportive community. On a process level it goes from primary research to a communicative illustration storybook as the output, aimed towards awareness, relatability, acceptance, sense of belonging and community building. Crossing over here, involves transitioning from personal space and primary research based on narratives and others' experiences with a sense of responsibility towards the cause, to acceptance, relatability, being a conversation starter, awareness, and belonging.
