Abstract

Context

The problem at hand here is the social isolation experienced by older individuals, particularly those in the Raaga apartment community. The platform attempts to address this issue by facilitating social interactions through shared activities and interests.

Dismantling Process

The process began by identifying and understanding the complex problem of social isolation. This process involved deconstructing the different factors that contribute to the problem and breaking it down into its various components to understand how they interact and influence each other. The process of dismantling allowed for a thorough and subtle understanding of the problem, paving the way for an informed design intervention.

Empathetic Exploration

Empathetic exploration played a pivotal role in shaping the 'Ticket to Talk' platform. This took the form of extensive primary research and later through participatory workshops with the senior members of the Raaga community to gain a deep understanding of their lived experiences.

Innovative and Inclusive Design Solutions

The design of the 'Ticket to Talk' platform reflects the culmination of the dismantling process and empathetic exploration. This intervention is not just a digital platform but a social space that hopes to mirror the fluidity and discretion inherent in everyday social encounters. The interesting aspect of this design lies in its unique approach of using 'tickets' or activity prompts to facilitate social interaction. Through participatory workshops and designing with senior members of the community, the empathetic exploration of the users' needs and preferences has made the design truly user-centric.
