Abstract
The Feeding Futures breast milk donation bank not only aligns with the line of inquiry regarding leveraging sensory engagement and cultural sensitivity to promote well-being but also exemplifies the principles of service design, insights generation, and stakeholder mapping. The project addresses a critical need by making breast milk more accessible to infants, especially those who are premature, ill, or have specific medical needs, thus contributing directly to their well-being. Through the collection, processing, and distribution of donated breast milk, the initiative demonstrates a holistic approach to service design, ensuring that the entire process – from donor recruitment to milk delivery – is efficient and well-coordinated. Insights gained from engaging with stakeholders such as donors, medical professionals, and caregivers inform the design and implementation of the donation bank, allowing for continuous improvement and optimisation of services. Stakeholder mapping helps identify key actors involved in the process and facilitates collaboration to maximise impact. By raising awareness and reducing stigma around breast milk donation, Feeding Futures not only attracts more donors but also fosters a supportive environment within hospitals, orphanages, and communities, ultimately benefiting vulnerable infants and promoting the practice of direct feeding. Through its comprehensive approach to service design and stakeholder engagement, the project exemplifies how initiatives aimed at enhancing well-being can be effectively implemented and sustained.
