Exploring Inclusive Design For The Visually Impairment And Color Blindness
Abstract
My final project focused on inclusive design for individuals with visual impairments and colour blindness. It aims to bridge gaps in understanding by exploring how these individuals perceive colour and its role as a visual memory cue. The project resulted in a book titled Inclusive Vision which is about exploring Inclusive Design for the Visually Impaired and Colourblind, and also had an experimental, tactile colouring book. This tactile approach allows both visually impaired and sighted individuals to experience how those with visual impairments perceive colour as an experience or with other sensories.
Chosen for its direct engagement with inclusivity and accessibility, the project facilitates narrative exchange around these experiences, aligning with my line of enquiry’s focus on inclusivity, accessibility, and community engagement. A special aspect is the tactile book, offering a tangible way to understand diverse experiences.
The project crosses over from traditional research into experiential design, using tactile elements to convey narratives of inclusivity and accessibility.
