Abstract
This project involved understanding the pain point that is present in an already existing service (Breastfeeding donation bank) aiming to make it more accessible and more reliable for people while also spreading awareness on the subject. It investigated the existing breast milk bank stakeholders, donors and receivers through in-depth interviews and surveys, along with ecosystem mapping, stakeholder mapping and journey maps to understand gaps within the system.
My curiosity about why people were unaware of or hesitant to donate led me to investigate this topic. This required engaging with individuals who may have been reluctant to discuss breastfeeding due to its sensitive nature. Through in-depth interviews, I navigated conversations that provided valuable insights into the needs and experiences of both donors and recipients. This ultimately broadened my understanding of how societal norms and the lack of social awareness systems affect breast milk banks. This project also helped me expand my communication skills by developing effective strategies for addressing sensitive topics.
