Where Did The Stars Go

Abstract

This is a book created about the precarity of relationships and the future, from a place of fear, turns into a book about hope and joy; a book about loving, and being loved. It is a multimedia artwork, created using digital and traditional media, finished with a handbound spine.

In recent years, with the worsening of global warming and increase in pollution, seeing the stars is almost a foreign concept to most city dwellers. Shifting from one big city to another means that I have not seen a sky full of stars in almost a decade. However, at the beginning of the year, I was able to go to a forest, just on the outskirts of the city, early in the morning. I saw the stars twinkle for the first time in a long time. This book was inspired by the night sky and

fraught friendships. Originally meant to be a book for children, it ended up as an art book, created using digital art, penwork, printmaking and other techniques.

Through this five-week project I was able to expand and understand my personal practice. I familiarised myself with my process.
