Somethings Missing

Based on the concept of identity, an exhibition was held in the bathrooms at the Srishti Manipal campus. The concept put forward by the curator was exploring the construction and constant evolution of personal and social identities in a safe space.

The aim of the exhibition was to get students and faculty to self-reflect while being surrounded by the art. To aid in achieving this goal, I created a series of self-portraits displayed on the wall of the bathroom, and worked as a curator. We also held an open call for artists to submit their work, giving them prompts and questions to better understand the theme of the exhibition and their own identities and create work that articulated this.

Through this project, I was further able to focus on my process as an artist. Along with this I worked in the role of a curator which allowed me to work collaboratively with my teammates and other artists. I learnt about the process of curation, the back end work necessary for an exhibition and how to balance my personal creation and the work I do for others.
