Contemporary Art Practice

As an illustrator, my goal is to create art that resonates with diverse audiences by blending personal observations with communal narratives. My creative practice draws from my own experiences and self-examination, capturing the nuances of community dynamics and personal stories. I aim to forge connections and foster understanding across varied experiences, using art to explore themes of identity, locality and belonging. Inspired by the localities I inhabit and the identities I encounter, I create works that reflect my personal narrative while resonating with a broader audience. What sets my work apart is the deliberate intertwining of personal and communal narratives. My projects are not just artistic expressions but explorations of shared experiences, serving as a bridge between my inner world and external surroundings, creating space for viewers to find their own reflections and connections. For instance, “Four Walls, One Room, A Bed” explores the concept of home as a dynamic journey. This installation combines illustration and text to examine the shifting meaning of home at different life stages, revealing the complexities of defining home. The “Manipal Foundation Mural” is another project which showcases the transformative power of art, beautifying a space and instilling a sense of pride and ownership among young girls. My practice is a continuous journey of self-discovery. Through my works, I strive to create dialogue, transcending individual experiences and fostering deeper connections and understanding.

How does my personal connection and reflection shape artwork that resonates with diverse audiences and spaces, exploring themes like locality, identity, and belonging?

How does my personal connection and reflection shape artwork that resonates with diverse audiences and spaces, exploring themes like locality, identity, and belonging?

My line of inquiry examines how my personal connection and reflection shape my artwork, such that it resonates with diverse audiences and spaces on multiple levels. Each piece explores how my personal reflections create meaningful art that my viewers can relate to, while also exploring the essence of community and self. Through my art, I want to create a dialogue that transcends individual experiences, forging connections and fostering a deeper understanding of the human condition.
